Song of a Man

Within the boundaries of a "happy" relationship exist multiple stories of compromise, of giving up the vitality of your life..a friend is an inspiration of this poem..Its a song that has lately flickered off my conscience too..

Baby o' baby, what do you think of me?
Am I your slave, or I am your enemy?
or I am your pet lord, born to fulfill your wish
with no verve of my own, all my yearnings foolish!

I might have lost some battles, for show,
might have given you the space you know..
but little does it mean for the outer world to see,
I still am the man, I always used to be!

I feel like a fleet of ships blocking your horizon,
Or the waves, unfolded, extinguishing your cauldron.
I feel like an entity, you can any day ask to leave,
without elan within me, and you ready to bereave!

..but my love remains, and I am not your enemy,
nor am I your slave, never will you get used to me,
I shall remain your companion, sharing your smiles,
your love of life, ready to walk all the miles,

Leave my freedom love, its not for you to peruse,
Its a gift of lord, bound in the mortal noose.
When I will die, I shall give it up once and for all,
Till then I request you to keep your ideas apart!

No, I am not, not the pet that your aspired for,
perhaps, not the good lord, nor am I the mythical thor,
I am not an entity, and there is nothing you'd cleave,
believe me love even I can ask you to leave..
